A Minnie Mouse Birthday

When my mom's co-worker asked me to make cupcakes and cake pops for her granddaughter's 2nd birthday, I couldn't wait!  She was having a Minnie Mouse birthday, which I knew would be such a fun theme to work with. I figured out what I wanted to do almost immediately, and then set out to make sure I had all of the supplies I needed.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to find round chocolate cookies other than Oreos?  I searched high and low and never ended up finding any that were the right size.  Fondant to the rescue!

I ended up making red velvet cake pops and white cup cakes with whipped cream frosting. All in all, I had a lot of fun with this project and learned tons about cake pops in the process!

Erin's Nautical Themed Baby Shower

Hi friends!  Welcome to my new blog and thanks for stopping by! I wanted my first blog post to be special, and what could be more special than my sister and her first baby?!

As soon as Erin announced her pregnancy (which was a total shocker by the way!), I couldn't wait to start planning her shower.  Party planning is always fun, but so much more exciting when it’s for your sister.  I thought that Pinterest and all of the party blogs out there would be give me some ideas, but instead they just overwhelmed me!  Every time I thought I couldn’t possibly find something cuter, I’d stumble on a new blog or new shower idea.  Luckily, with the help of the lovely grandmas to be (and the guest of honor), we finally made a few of the big decisions and it was smooth sailing from there!

Why yes she is!

My main project was the dessert table.  After seeing so many beautiful dessert tables online I couldn't imagine not doing one!  Luckily it was something I was really looking forward to doing.  By some stroke of luck I found everything I needed (and even plenty of things I didn't REALLY need) at Tai Pan Trading.  Thank you to Erin's sister-in-law Mandy for the delicious cupcakes and brownies and to Beth at Sweet Life Kitchen for the yummy cake pops!

And what baby shower would be complete without a diaper cake?! (With a bottle of wine stashed in the middle for the new parents)

We had a great time planning the shower and working together to make all of the decorations and favors, and even more fun seeing everybody at the shower!

Wyatt has everything he could even possibly need and more! He'll be the best dressed baby on the block.

Now hurry up Wyatt!  We can't wait to meet you!
